Articles should be prepared in compliance with the requirements established by the MLA Style Manual and Guide to Scholarly Publishing, 8th edition (2016). Manuscripts should consist of approximately 6,000 words of text. The Afro-Hispanic Review is moving towards a paper-free review process; therefore, we require an electronic copy of all submissions. (Please email if you prefer to send a hard copy as well.)

Please note, subscriptions that do not conform to the 8th edition MLA Style Manual and Guide to Scholarly Publishing, will be returned.

All manuscripts are anonymously refereed; therefore, the manuscripts should contain no obvious reference to the author, though the author’s name, address, telephone number, and email address should be included on a separate title page. A current subscription to the journal is required before the manuscript undergoes the review process. Manuscripts may be submitted in Spanish or English. For articles on Afro-Brazilian studies, please contact us for additional specifications before submission.
